It is not every day we get to see a hardened genre specific director to boldly go where no other has gone before, and this is where ace film director Quentin Tarantino comes into play. He has been a self-professed fan of the STAR TREK franchise for quite some years and after the recent controversy that shrouded him in recent he has sit the news once again after pitching a STAR TREK story to J.J. Abrams who is the executive producer of the franchise.
Speaking on this writer and actor Simon Pegg said, “I don’t think he’s written an R-rated Star Trek script. I think what happened is he went to J.J. [Abrams] with an idea that he has had for a while – I remember he told us about it a long time ago. I think he told me and Edgar [Wright], about it a long time ago. He just put it to J.J. and J.J. is considering putting it into a writing room. We got an email just saying ‘Guess who came in the office the other day!’ So, I don’t know much about it, other than the fact that it is sort of in the mix. So, we will see.”
Tarantino films have always had their own defining feel to them with argumentative dialogues and plot driven sequences which but recently it was revealed that screenwriter Mark L. Smith had been attached to write the screenplay which is a direct contrast to the Tarantino’s film style where dialogues are key elements of his films while Smith’s last film THE REVENANT featured less dialogue and showed the actions and the will to survive and revenge driven story.
Hopefully the coming together of these writing geniuses will amount to the greatest STAR TREK film of all but that still is a long way off as Quentin Tarantino is currently working on making his next film, ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD.
