This Friday’s major release, Shree Narayan Singh’s Shahid-Shraddha starrer, BATTI GUL METER CHALU, saw a decent start, opening to a 20-25 percent response. What it means is that if BATTI GUL METER CHALU can up the ante, it can come up with a reasonable weekend haul (around 15 crore), it’ll be a good platform for the film to make a mark.
The other venture, Nandita Das directed Nawazuddin starrer, MANTO, is off to brilliant reviews but unfortunately faced some release issues, whereby it had to make do with limited shows. And if the issue is sorted out soon enough, the film is sure to appeal to it’s target elite audience!
Meanwhile, last week’s prominent release, Abhishek, Vicky and Taapsee starrer MANMARZIYAAN, could not quite capitalise on a decent weekend haul (16.50 crore), as the collections did not hold during the weekdays and the film ended the week, netting 22 crore (to be validated). Having said that, MANMARZIYAAN can still hope to get to a 30 crore mark, and a safe outcome.
The other two releases, Jackky Bhagnani’s MITRON and the Manoj, Freida and Anupam film LOVE SONIA, saw a dismal fate netting 2.75 crore and 1.75 crore respectively.
Concluding with Maddock Films and D2R Film Pvt Ltd’s Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor starrer, the blockbuster STREE, the film added another 17 crore, thus netting 112 crore in three weeks from India, and still has a lot of fire power in it’s belly!
