This week’s premier release, T-Series’ Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani starrer, KABIR SINGH, remake of Telugu super hit ARJUN REDDY, scorched the box-office with a 20-21 crore opening day. It surpassed the best opening record of Shahid’s 2015 solo SHAANDAR (12 crore) by a huge margin. The core multiplex frequenting audience; the youths and campus crowd have taken an immense liking for the film and it won’t be a surprise if KABIR SINGH turns out to be a clean hit!
Meanwhile, Tapsee Pannu’s GAME OVER (dubbed) could not convert a decent opening weekend (4.75 crore) into a good week haul and managed to just about minimise losses.
Concluding with the Ali Abbas Zafar directed Salman-Katrina starrer BHARAT, post a huge 9-day opening week (174 crore), the collections of the film crashed in the second as it managed just around 24 crore. The film has thus netted 198 crore in two weeks from India and will cross the 200 crore mark this weekend, which looks great, but given the team’s previous 300 crore ventures, it is a tad disappointing. BHARAT is decent in the overseas grossing over $10m with US accounting for $2.80m.
