It is by now well known that late Yash Chopra's Shahrukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma starrer, JAB TAK HAI JAAN, has a total release cost of 60 crore for the makers and worldwide distributors Yash Raj Films. As we have said time and again that it does not include SRK's remuneration.
For the uninitiated, King Khan is actually a partner in the production of JAB TAK HAI JAAN and as per trade news, the superstar will receive a notional fee of 35 crore for JTHJ, and that will take up the actual cost to 95 crore. Having said that the film will still yield a net profit of Rs. 70-75 crore for Yash Raj Films, based on the worldwide run and Rs. 50-55 crore (estimated) from satellite, TV, audio and home video rights. The producers are also expected to receive 17-18 crore by way of subsidy from the UK government.
Well, despite a stiff competition from Ajay Devgn's SON OF SARDAAR, especially at the single screens and mass belts, it's still a win-win situation for YRF.
