Remakes are one thing Bollywood is currently obsessed with. The filmmakers are trying their best to recreate the magic of 80’s or 90’s movies for today’s generation. There are so many films that are either adapted or remade these days.
Much recently we saw Salman Khan’s JUDWAA recreated by Varun Dhawan as JUDWAA 2 and it is going strong on box office too. And yet again yesteryear filmmaker Yash Chopra’s ITTEFAQ is being remade and it stars Sidharth Malhotra, Sonakshi Sinha and Akshaye Khanna in the lead.
Sidharth will step into Khanna’s shoes and Nanda’s role will be essayed by Sonakshi. Akshaye plays Madan Puri’s role who is a cop. The remake is being directed by Abhay Chopra.
The trailer of ITTEFAQ was released today and it’s quite intriguing, with right amount of mystery which keeps us hooked till the end and we can’t predict what happens next.
These days marketing and promotions are integral part of any film promotions however the makers of ITTEFAQ has decided to go the other way. Yes, you read it right, this hasn’t be done in Bollywood off lately that a big banner film won’t be promoted!
Speaking about the same, Venky Mysore, CEO of Red Chillies Entertainment, says, “ITTEFAQ is a crisp, new age thriller and an exciting adaptation of the 1960 cult classic. The marketing strategy is also designed keeping this in mind, so as to maintain the element of mystery for the audience. ITTEFAQ is the result of collaboration between three studios and we hope the audiences enjoy the way we have reimagined it.”
Co-producer Karan Johar informed, “For the first time, we have a no-promotion stand on ITTEFAQ. It’s important we don’t reveal any part of the film and have decided to keep the actors away from media interactions. So, hopefully, no spoilers, and definitely no promotion on our 100-minute non-stop mystery thriller.”
Juno Chopra, creative producer, BR Studios added, “ITTEFAQ is an edge-of-the seat thriller with a contemporary take on its original version. The experience of this story can only be heightened without outing any spoilers or over communicating it to the audience. We believe that the film should speak to its audience through its trailer. I hope this will revolutionize the way stories are marketed.”
Co-produced by Red Chillies Entertainment, BR Studios and Dharma Productions, ITTEFAQ releases on Nov 3, 2017.
