The prominent new release of the week, Gauri Shinde’s Alia Bhatt and Shah Rukh Khan (extended cameo) starrer, DEAR ZINDAGI, has managed a good weekend haul.
As per the details, DEAR ZINDAGI, which embarked on a good start at Metro and ‘A’ centre multiplexes, managing 9 crore during the opening day, picked up further during the remaining days of the weekend, netting an impressive 33 crore (to be validated), given the limited 1200 screen release. But we are not surprised as we had already stated that the film carries a mixed feedback, tilting towards positive, and by and large good critical acclaim.
DEAR ZINDAGI is also on a good run in the overseas, grossing $4m, with $780,000 from Gulf (Thursday & Friday) and $1,500,000 (estimated) from the US (Wednesday-Sunday) and the remaining accruing from the rest of the world.
Given the reasonable 35 crore raw budget (excluding SRK’s fees, who will share the profits), the film should sail through at the box-office, ending as a success, if not hit. And we are not even talking about the healthy recovery from the non-theatrical rights!
