It was a 'full circle' moment for Subhash Ghai when he was present to grace the first trailer launch of HEROPANTI, which marks the debut of Tiger Shroff, son of Jackie Shroff. Well, it was showman Subhash Ghai, who gave film industry a new 'HERO' Jackie Shroff, exactly 30 years ago.
While unveiling the trailer Ghai expressed, ''I am very envious of Sajid (producer) and Sabbir (director) that they launched Tiger because I feel he is not an actor or superstar or son of Jackie…He is like my son and I feel my son is being launched. And it is not out of emotional reasons but I feel envious, obviously, for professional reasons because I had sent Rs.21,000 cheque to Jackie when Tiger was born. So, in a way I signed him 20 years back. But you know how Sajid can encash things.''
He further added in same vein, ''We are all proud and we see a superstar (Tiger Shroff) is born today.''
When asked about the similarities between father and son, Ghai shared, ''Both father and son Jackie and Tiger are very similar. They both are shy, very honest. Both are not politically correct. Both can do action. They both are really good at heart and good human beings. Like Jackie, who completed 30 years, Tiger will also go far. He is here to stay for long time''
Though Subhash didn't have the opportunity to launch Jackie's son, he has definitely directed Tiger, though in a short video. For those who are unaware, Subhash Ghai had made a small National Integration film 'Saara Bharat Yeh Kahe' years ago to celebrate the Republic Day. The video incidentally featured Mr Rishi Kapoor, Mr Anil Kapoor, Mr Jackie Shroff with their respective kids Ranbir Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor and Tiger Shroff along with host of other stars. So, when we brought it to Ghai's notice, he at once recollected, ''Yes, I was watching that video only before coming here. I shot with various actors including Aamir, Jackie, Rishi, etc with their respective kids. So, it is very nostalgic to see that they are becoming bigger star. Interestingly, till today neither I understand nor these kids know that how do we address each other. But I could see the star kids being brought up by their parents in a great way and credit goes to them for grooming them so well.''
Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala's Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment and UTV Motion Pictures, HEROPANTI, directed by Sabbir Khan (KAMBAKKHT ISHQ), also introduces Kriti Sanon and is set to release on May 23, 2014.
