Sudhir Mishra: Sometimes humour is used to humiliate women

While one waits to see how does the sexual harassment element come into play in INKAAR, one wonders what to expect from the narrative standpoint. In Sudhir Mishra‘s last film YEH SAALI ZINDAGI; there was subtle humour that ran through the entire narrative. Does audience get to see any such light moments in INKAAR as well or does it stay on to be serious?

‘I think what you get to see is an exciting narrative,’ Sudhir says after a pause, ‘Of course there is a sense of humour that runs through; that’s me after all. However there is a definite sense of humour as well that I bring along. Sometimes I see humour being used to humiliate women and people make that as an excuse of cracking a joke. I don’t understand that humour.’

CHECK OUT: INKAAR is not preachy, says Chitrangada Singh

Though one doesn’t quite expect an out and out hilarious outing from him pretty soon, one film for which the wait seems to be rather way too extended is MEHRUNISSA. So what’s the latest on that?

‘I am not a kind of person who does two films at a time. I would be beginning work on it after INKAAR has released. I keep hearing different names being thrown around the film’s cast. Well, much of it could be right or wrong but one thing is for sure that the names that would come on fore would be interesting. Perhaps by end of January I would be in a position to be more vocal about since some of the things are changing and there are some other matters to be tied up. However, by and large we are done with the ground work on MEHRUNISSA and an announcement is just round the corner,’ confirms Sudhir.
