Apart from the YAMLA PAGLA DEEWANA franchise, Sunny Deol has hardly done an out-and-out comedy film. The actor is known for playing an angry, action star, and now he is gearing up to play a funny character in POSTER BOYS.
Although the movie talks about a taboo subject vasectomy, casting Sunny Deol in it was the biggest catch as he is epitomized as the macho man of our B-town.
In a candid conversation, Sunny Deol spoke at length about films in today’s times and why he doesn’t watch films.
On being asked if he has watched the original Marathi film POSHTER BOYZ he said, “No I haven’t it was my conscious decision to not watch the film, I wanted my character to be the way Shreyas narrated me. I hardly watch any of the films being made these days. I don't have the time. Even when I was younger, I was not much of a movie watcher. When I have time, I watch South Indian films. I find them very strong in content.”
“When I heard this idea, the germ itself was so interesting that I just wanted to do it. That’s how I have always worked in all my films,” he added.
But much to our surprise, Sunny confessed that he doesn’t read scripts before signing any of his films “I have never read any scripts. This is a funda nowadays like ‘Give me a script, give me a script.’ We have never worked like that. I have never worked like that,” he confessed.
He also shared how he selects his films, “Once the director has narrated the film to me, we know that is going to be the premise and we work with that,” said Sunny.
On being asked that his image has always been of an action hero, doesn’t he wish to change the image, Sunny smiled and said, “Yes, there are so many things that I want to change, GADAR: EK PREM KATHA was a love story and also had action sequences, but the impact of action sequences were higher and now I am known more for action scenes than anything else, and that’s perfectly fine, that’s how it is and I can’t change it.”
POSTER BOYS is the remake of the hit Marathi film POSHTER BOYZ (2014). It was directed by Sameer Patil and produced by Shreyas Talpade, who also played a cameo in the film.
The Hindi version is being directed by Talpade and he will be seen acting in this film as well along with Sunny and his brother Bobby. The film hits the silver screen this Friday.
