The premier new release of the week, Ronnie Screwvala and Pragya Kapoor’s Sushant Singh Rajput and Sara Ali Khan starrer, KEDARNATH, had to bear the brunt of the still piping hot 2.0, and could manage just a fair start (15-20 percent). The film did see a slight pick up during the latter shows, resulting in a decent 7.50-8 crore opening day.
As things stand, the mostly good reviews and the youthful romantic appeal is likely to work in favour of the Abhishek Kapoor directed film, resulting in a good to decent weekend haul.
Meanwhile Shankar’s Rajnikanth-Akshay starrer, 2.0, saw a superb run which culminated in a 500 crore world wide gross (all versions) for the film which is a record for Tamil cinema.
Interestingly, the best performance comes from the Hindi version (130 crore) and the film will turn out to be the biggest grosser for a Akshay Kumar starrer by a long distance.
