‘This 25 year old indeed carries certain spunk to her’ – That’s an instant impression that one gets the moment Taapsee Pannu begins conversing. Mature yet a lot of fun, vibrant yet controlled and vivacious yet not being reckless, the newest CHASHME BADDOOR girl may be new to Bollywood but has some good work to show down South.

‘This is the reason why I maintain that though I am new, I am not that new,’ quips Taapsee who would be making her Bollywood debut with the David Dhawan directed laugh riot, ‘I have done 15 movies but still have the age factor going for me. Hence, people don’t see me as someone very experienced. Also, I may be young but have brains. Dimaag hai mere paas. I am not making any decisions in haste.’
No wonder, despite a waiting period involved with the release of her Bollywood outing, she didn’t go elsewhere and sign other Hindi films. Instead, she decided to wait and watch for the perfect launch with this madcap comedy that stars Ali Zafar, Sidharth and Divyendu Sharma in the lead roles.

‘See, it is as simple as that. I am not into this profession because kuch bacha nahi tha karne ke liye or I was short of options. I wanted to do films because this is a profession that excited me,’ she continues, ‘Moreover; first impression is the best impression. I was very particular about that. My Tamil film debut was so big that I never had to look back. I wanted to carry the same in Hindi. Here no one gives you a second chance. For someone like me with zero backdrops in the industry, I had to be extra careful and patient.’
One hopes the patience indeed pays off when the film releases all over this Friday.
