Ask Toshi about his experience of working on this film and he reveals, “Though it was a great experience working with Dharma Productions, at the same time it was challenging too, as we had to prove ourselves with it. But I’m glad that our work has been appreciated by all.”
Toshi and Sharib have composed four songs – ‘Saturday Saturday’, ‘Emotional Fool’, ‘Main Tennu Samjhawaan’ and ‘Samjhawaan Unplugged’ for this film.
Quiz him how difficult was it to compose these songs and he says, “It wasn’t difficult. It just requires lot of hard work, dedication and most importantly patience. That is something we did and the result is right in front of you.”

So what precautions they had to take while making Alia Bhatt sing the ‘Samjhawaan Unplugged’?
“My only brief to Alia was that she has to be very comfortable whenever she sings or records for the song. She should be like, ‘This is me and I’m going to sing for myself and I don’t care about my sur or the technicalities’. And I’m glad that she has sung it exactly in that way. The unique husk in her voice has come out very nicely in the song.Alia ne us feel se gaaya hai jaise kabhi hum masti main humming karte hai,” explains Toshi.
He elaborates further, “After recording the song, Sharib and I were confused as to what kind of music we should give to it, so then we decided to give it a feeling that one has when somebody is in love. We designed it the way a normal person, who doesn’t understand music will sing and eventually gave it a very chilling effect. We incorporated cute and sweet percussions ka sound, chanting bell and rich piano ka sound, which is thankfully being loved by all.”
Now that the song has released and is being applauded by the audience, we asked Toshi what kind of response has been coming his way and he expresses, “Everybody has loved it. Karan (Johar) sir appreciated it a lot. He in fact even called me and said that he is very happy with it. Even the film’s director Shashank (Khaitan) is happy with the final product. But most importantly, we ourselves are very happy and satisfied with it.”
