Filmmaker Umesh Shukla’s upcoming film ALL IS WELL songs have become talk of the town, especially the reprised version of 80s popular number ‘Aye Mere HumSafar’ from the film QAYAMAT SE QAYAMAT TAK. While the original was crooned by Alka Yagnik and Udit Narayan, the newer version has been rendered by Tulsi Kumar and Mithoon, who has also composed the song.
The lovely song from QSQT that had won over the hearts back then had a very romantic vibe, whereas the recreated song has little sad and mellowed down feel to it. In fact, the lyrics are also changed a bit.
Ask Tulsi, who has given a surreal feel to the song, what was the idea behind this song and she reveals, “Basically that was director Umesh Shukla’s idea of having it, which is a travel song that takes the story forward. While the original number had a very happy vibe to it and was a very open sorted song, the new version has a little sad and mellowed down feel to it. When I met Mithoon, the composer, for a sitting of this song, he had explained that the song will have the same melody; the structuring of the song is same. Of course he had arranged it in different way with altogether different lyrics. The situation in which this song comes in the film is also very different. I was told to render it in a very surreal form. I went as per Mithoon’s guidelines while recording.’

At one end she was privileged to have sung her favourite number, then on other hand she was also apprehensive doing it. “I have grown up listening to this song. I was little apprehensive to render because it has been my favourite number and it was a huge chartbuster by such great artists like Alka ji, whom I look upto. But Mithoon pre-forced me and convinced that we have to do it in our own way and give it a very soulful feel. We jointly worked on this and I think I have tried to give best to the song,” says the talented singer.
Prod Tulsi, the new-age singer, if she finds it cool to recreate the old songs and she gives her point of view, “I don’t think there is any harm with it because people again remember the old songs. They are getting to hear it in slightly twisted new way. When we have such beautiful songs there is no harm in it, as long as we are not tampering and making it sound bad.”
Tulsi’s upcoming projects include Kunal Kohli’s PHIR SE which is a duet with Mohit Chauhan composed by Jeet Ganguly and a peppy number in JUNOONIYAT with Meet Bros.
Produced by T-Series, ALL IS WELL is all set to release on August 21, 2015.
