Veteran actress Kumkum known for her grace and extraordinary dancing skills breathed her last today.
The actress has featured in immortal gems like Ae Dil Hai Mushkil Jeena Yaha, Kabhi Aar, Kabhi Paar laga Tere – E- Nazar, Mere Mehboob Qayamat Hogi and many more. Kumkum acted in iconic movies like Mother India, Pyasa, Ujala, Kohinoor, Mirza Ghalib, Mr. & Mrs. ’55, Kundan (1955), Shreeman Funtoosh(1956), C.I.D. (1956), Basant Bahar (1956), Naya Daur (1957) etc. Kum Kum was 86.
Naved Jafri, son of late comedian Jagdeep condoled the actress’s death on Twitter. He wrote, “We have lost another gem. I have known her since I was a kid and she was family, a superb artist and a fantastic human being, innalillahe wa innailaihe raajeoon. Rest in peace kunkum aunty.”
Kumkum made her Bollywood debut as a dancer in 1954 with the song Kabhi Aar
Kabhi Paar Laaga Teere Nazar from the film Aar Paar. She then went on to act in
several successful films.
Kumkum also acted in the first ever Bhojpuri film titled Ganga Maiyya Tohe Piyari Chadhaibo.
