Deewana Mujhsa Nahin Iss Ambar Ke Neeche…
This super hit song from filmmaker Nasir Hussein’s hit film TEESRI MANZIL suits aptly to define its lead actor Shammi Kapoor’s personality.
He was truly Deewana (crazy) in every sense be it his boisterous zeal for life, his passion for music and last but not the least his spontaneity for acting. He was a born actor and could deliver any act be it sober, romantic or comic instantaneously.
October 21, marks the birth anniversary of Shammi Kapoor; Glamsham.Com remembers him and unravels how he clean bowled distinguished film director Vijay Anand with his Deewangi.
Vijay Anand, the eminent film maker once in his interview said, “I had the privilege of directing Shammiji in TEESRI MANZIL and it was during the making of the movie I saw his Deewangi at its best. He was full of energy and his comic timing was simply superb. However what floored me the most was his ability to go into the skin of the character instantly.”
He enlightens, “During the middle of the movie’s shooting Shammiji lost his wife Geeta Bali and went into depression. He became reclusive and the shooting had to be aborted for many months. Finally, I cajoled him to resume.”
“Since he had still not come out from grief completely hence I decided to shoot the climax song ‘Tumne Mujhe Dekha Ho Kar Mehrban’… though it was a tragic song yet Nasir Sahab (film producer) was not confident that Shammi Kapoor would do justice but I , somehow, had trust in his abilities.
The moment I announced ‘Action’ Shammiji who till now looked weary, suddenly went into the character and took everybody by surprise by his spell-bounding performance!” concluded Vijay Anand.
