While the makers of KISMET LOVE PAISA DILLI (KLPD) have clarified that Abhay Deol was never in contention for the film and it was always Vivek Oberoi as the first and only choice, it has now also been released that latter was actually one of the first choices of director Sachin Khanduri's debut film EK CHALIS KI LAST LOCAL.
"Yes, Sanjay had in fact approached Vivek during EK CHALIS KI LAST LOCAL. He had agreed in principal as well but due to certain issues that emerged soon after, he couldn't step in. That had left Sanjay without a hero and later he got hold of Abhay Deol and put together the film," informs a source.
The release of EK CHALIS… changed it all for Vivek as he realised that he had opted out of a good project.
"After watching the film I thought that I should have done the film," sighs Vivek, "Yes, it was out of my comfort zone at that time. However soon after watching it I called up Sanjay. I told him that I regret not having done the film. Hats off to him that he was very sporting about the entire episode. He just said that let bygones be bygones. Later when producer Amit Chandrra and I were sitting together, it was decided there and then that KLPD toh banaani hi banaani hai. Rest is history."
Now here is hoping that Sanjay turns out to be second time lucky with Vivek in tow. KLPD releases all over on 5th October.
