What is Lata Mangeshkar’s heartfelt request to Mahendra Singh Dhoni

The cricket season is at its peak and like many a times, weather plays a spoilt sport, it seems we would want to pacify ourselves blaming it to the rains as one of the factors for India’s loss. Yesterday the entire euphoria of India winning the ICC Cricket World Cup fizzled with India losing to New Zealand with 18 runs. While the team India appeared to be in full form, it was still Mahendra Singh Dhoni who stood the tallest. There were murmurs that this might be his last game or tournament. Mahendra Singh Dhoni is planning his retirement from cricket.

Like the millions of fans in India and across the world who do not want Mahendra Singh Dhoni to retire, it is Lata (Didi) Mangeshkar who has gone ahead and actually requested the cricketing great to stay back. In a tweet post Lata Mangeshkar has requsted saying, “Namaskar M S Dhoni ji.Aaj kal main sun rahi hun ke Aap retire hona chahte hain.Kripaya aap aisa mat sochiye.Desh ko aap ke khel ki zaroorat hai aur ye meri bhi request hai ki Retirement ka vichar bhi aap mann mein mat laayiye.@msdhoni”

(Roughly meaning… Greetings M S Dhoniji, Recently there is a buzz around of you thinking to retire (from cricket). Request you to not think that way. The Country needs you to play and this is my request too that you do not think of retiring.)

It indeed is an enormous expression coming from a singing maestro to a cricketing great. It just re affirms how much we all love watching Mahendra Singh Dhoni play and unanimously would want to request him not to retire. Dear Mahi, request you to keep playing.
