After ZANJEER Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan was labeled as ‘Angry Young Man’, however, celebrated filmmaker Manmohan Desai broke his image and extracted the comedian in him in his film AMAR AKBAR ANTHONY.

However, you will be surprised to know that when Desai narrated him the character of Anthony Gonsalves, Amitabh had openly declined the role. But Desai was confident of its success. He told Amitabh, ”Ek baar film release hone de, public tere ko sirf Anthonybhai ke name se pukaregi. (Let the film release once public will just address you by Anthonybhai’s name).

True to his words Anthony Gonsalves became a craze and Amitabh Bachchan even won the Filmfare Best Actor award in AMAR AKBAR ANTHONY (1977).
