When two stalwarts of Indian cinema – Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan, meet, you know that it must be a special occasion. And it indeed was one when the two living legends, along with many other guests from the film fraternity, came together for the curtain raiser of the hi-tech 3D film KOCHADAIIYAAN.
Said Amitabh Bachchan, ''Rajinikanth and I have been very close to each other. Rajini has been like a family to me. We have worked in each other's films. We have worked together in common films. There has always been a certain grace, dignity and humility, a down to earth quality that has always preceded him.''
Amitabh Bachchan also revealed that there was a time when the Tamil superstar was ''bored''.
He said, ''There have been many moments when off the screen we have spent time together and discussed life and cinema. Very recently, he was shooting for his last film, ROBOT. We happened to be together on the same location. He dropped by in my room and we sat and spent some time together. He was saying, 'You know Amit ji, I am getting bored. I don't know what to do now.' I said, 'Please do not stop working. Just continue doing what you are doing, irrespective of the fact that it is boring.' And look what he produces now! It's unbelievable that somebody of his stature can continue to reinvent himself year after year and prove to the rest of the world that there is something new that he has to offer to all of us cinemagoers.''
Well, we can't agree with Big B more. All hail King Thalaiva!
