This super hit is song is well-known for its thought provoking lyrics but it is a tragedy that its brilliant lyricist Nida Fazli did not receive the kind of accolades that he truly deserved despite penning many hits songs like ‘Aa bhi jaa….’ (SUR), ‘Tu Is Tarah Se Meri Zindagi Mein’(AAP TO AISE NA THE), ‘Hosh Waalon Ko Khabar Kya’….(SARFAROSH).
Speaking about the song ‘Kabhi Kisi Ko Mukammal Jahan Nahi Milta’… Nida Fazli in an interview said, “Actually the song is a poem from a collection of my book. Incidentally, two renowned filmmakers Sibte Hassan Rizvi and Yash Chopra happened to read it and approached me to use it in their films.”
“I was in dilemma as same poem cannot be incorporated as a song in two films. Hence after a lot of pondering I gave the rights to Sibte Hassan Rizvi to use it as a song in his movie AAHISTA AAHISTA because, frankly speaking, it was Rizvi who approached me first and then Yash Chopra so ethically I felt Rizvi deserved,” informs Nida Fazli.
However, Nida Fazli adds, “After Yash Chopra came to know that I had given the rights to Rizvi, he was first very angry and later tried to tempt me by offering twice the amount paid by Sibte Hassan Rizvi but being a self-righteous person, my soul did not permit.”
So did Yash Chopra give -up? No! Yash Chopra was known for his adamant attitude. Anything that attracted him he would get it.
Hence, after Nida Fazli gave the song rights to Sibte Hassan Rizvi, Yash Chopra, craftily convinced Nida Fazli to use the poem as a background narration in his film. Fazli agreed.
Thus if you have seen Yash Chopra’s SILSILA, mark the climax, Amitabh Bachchan reciting the soulful poem Kabhi Kisi Ko Mukammal Jahan Nahi Milta…in a poignant tone in the backdrop.
