STUDENT OF THE YEAR is all set for release and while debutant Siddharth Malhotra indeed has turned out to be one of those fortunate ones to find a huge break like this, there are cynics who have called him as a lucky one who didn't quite have to go the hard way. For Sidharth, doesn't it become a little painful when detractors try to spoil the party when as an actor, all he wanted to do was go out there and deliver his best?
"No one but me knows about the struggle that I have faced in my entire journey," sighs Sidharth, "See, bollywood is too demanding from a hero and while you may still get a second chance after a fantastic beginning like this, you won't get your third if you are not performing. You have to start delivering to the best of your capabilities from day one. As for the cynics then well, so far I have been quite tolerant about this because at the end of the day I just want my work to speak on screen."
Having said that, a huge film with no less than Karan Johar has been a dream beginning no less for the youngster.
"Yes, I do feel damn lucky about that," smiles Sidharth, "Also, I can't be cocky or anything about my big break. I am sure there are many better looking people around with terrific physique and looks. This way luck has been a major factor, more so since I had never imagined that one day I would be actually doing films, leave aside with Karan Johar no less. I guess even he wouldn't have ever imagined making a film with newcomers. Now that Varun, Alia and I have got this opportunity, it would have been stupid-n-fool on our part to screw it all up."
Well, the verdict is all but waiting to be announced, what with 19th October pretty much round the corner.
