NAMAK HARAAM: Once again Rekha and Big B came together for Hrishikesh Myukherjee’s multi starrer NAMAK HARAAM and left their distinct mark.
DO ANJAANE: This drama-thriller released in 1976 and had Amitabh Bachchan, Rekha and Prem Chopra. Rekha portrayed the role of an ambitious woman who sacrifices her husband and family for being famous on screen. Amitabh played the role of the man who is cheated by both his wife and his best friend. The film was a hit at the box office
ALAAP:Rekha and Big B were seen in Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s 1977 film ALAAP. The film didn’t create that much noise like their other ventures but their pairing was liked.
IMMAAN DHARAM: Yet again in the year 1977 we saw Big B and Rekha sharing screen space in the film IMMAAN DHARAM. But in this particular film Rekha did not play Big B’s love interest but instead she was seen romancing Shashi Kapoor in the film. The film didn’t receive good response but Big B and Rekha’s performances were appreciated
KHOON PASINA:The action crime drama of 1977 starred Amitabh Bachchan, Vinod Khanna, Rekha and Nirupa Roy in the lead roles. The film turned out to be another ‘blockbuster’ movie of Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha, where they played husband-wife onscreen
GANGA KI SAUGANDH: In the year 1978, Rekha and Big B were yet again paired in the film GANGA KI SAUGANDH. Rekha played Big B’s love interest. Though the film had less scope for female leads, yet Rekha marked her presence along with Big B as she shared screen space with him.
MUQADDAR KA SIKANDAR: Though the movie Muqaddar Ka Sikander belonged all the way to Amitabh Bacchan, Rekha shone in the role Zohra, a woman who is desperately in love with him. The intense moments they shared on the screen is cherished by their fans even to this day. The film was the highest grossing film of the year 1978.
RAM BALRAM: The 1980 superhit film again featured Rekha and Amitabh Bachchan together along with Dharmendra and Zeenat Aman. As usual Big B and Rekha’s pairing was loved by the audience.
MR NATWARLAL:The year 1979 saw yet another hit film, action comedy, MR NATWARLAL. Rekha and Amitabh’s Jodi was loved by the fans, the song ‘Pardesia’ went on to become a huge hit and interestingly the song was sung by AB himself.
SUHAAG: Big B and Rekha were appealing as the on screen couple in this 1979 masala superhit film which also starred Parveen Babi and Shashi Kapoor.
SOORMA BHOPALI:Though Big B and Rekha technically didn’t work with each other after SILSILA, but they came one last time face-to-face in this film for their friend Jagdeep’s directorial venture in 1988. While Rekha played a drunk woman, Big B had a special appearance
SILSILA: Yash Chopra’s SILSILA, a romantic drama, is deemed to be last film to feature Rekha with Amitabh Bachchan, putting an end to their popular pairing on screen and their rumored off-screen affair.
