When we asked Aanand how he thought of experimenting with the ‘King of Romance’ Shah Rukh Khan and if it was a risky proposition, he blatantly said, “Filmmaking is never exciting if it is safe. Filmmaking is a creative process and it should always make you little nervous. And it is certainly making me little nervous which I am very happy about.”
However, will Aanand go his organic way that we have been witnessing in his films or the said project is customized keeping SRK in mind? “No I think I can only survive if I am organic, so I will follow the same path. I will remain in the same zone. I will see the story the way I used to see. I have always said that I am most loyal to my script and that’s what I will follow. I am not taking the big responsibility that I am making a big film and it will be a game changer. My only point is I‘m loving this story and it should fit in a best way,” reveals the filmmaker.
While Aanand has hardly given preference to stars in his films it has always been more about actors, we wonder what made him opt for a star like SRK this time around. Nevertheless, the filmmaker has his own reasons for it. He says, “It’s about correct casting. It will be an honour to work with a great actor like him. I am working on the script right now and am enjoying moving on with it. I have a great feeling that this character belongs to him and he will do a great stuff with it.”
As people are comparing Shah Rukh Khan’s dwarf character with that of Kamal Haasan’s in APPU RAJA, Aanand says, “Actually, I can’t stop anyone from doing it and they are not wrong in that. The Kamal Haasan one was one of its kind story on a dwarf. But mine is different. When you will watch you will realize. Both the films are different. Also, the USP of my film is not dwarf but the USP is love story so wait and watch.”
He adds in same vein, “I promise you something really very exciting with this one. It’s really tough both ways emotionally and technically but then I am sure that you will see my efforts and love it.”
On a parting note ask the filmmaker if he is moving towards stars now and he honestly says, “No my move will always be stories. It’s all about story. Even if I have changed the league, it’s because of the story and not because of the star. Its only story that can change the league. You have to tell the story which is original and important, which is new for your audience. You can change the league for audience, use that experience and hard work to reach them in the most organic way.”
