Aditya-Shraddha's OK JAANU is decent, Aamir's DANGAL at 358 crore!
The new release of the week, Madras Talkies and Dharma Productions’ venture starring Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor, OK JAANU, saw a decent start at city multiplexes. The opening was in the 25-35 percent region. The first day is likely to be in the 4-5 band.
OK JAANU and DANGAL
Given the reasonable cost (28 crore, all inclusive) and recovery from non-theatrical rights, even a half decent weekend should see the Shaad Ali directed film in the plus zone.
The other release, Nawazuddin’s HARAAMKHOR, which saw a very limited release, has managed to impress the critics and some niche audience at select cinemas.
Meanwhile, Aamir Khan’s DANGAL continued its merry run and at the end of the third week the film has netted 358 crore (inclusive of regional dubbed) from India. The all-time blockbuster is not only the biggest grosser ever, but still has the fire power to manage another decent week!
In the overseas DANGAL has grossed nearly $28m, with US accounting for $11.50m out of it, at the end of the third week.
