Akshay Kumar: I hope things change after our film GOLD
Akshay Kumar's next film is GOLD which is based on hockey and shows true incidents of an unsung hero, the trailer of which was appreciated by all. The songs of the film are also peppy and full of love,
At the special event held on friday for the song launch, Akshay introduced the cast as well shook leg with his on-screen wife Mouni Roy as they danced to Naino Se Baandhi from the film GOLD, which is picturized on them.
Considering the fact that Bollywood has thrown spotlight on hockey with films like CHAK DE INDIA! upcoming film SOORMA is also based on hockey and even GOLD touches upon this subject, during media interactions when asked Akshay what does he have to say about the rising growth of films being made on hockey and will this film uplift the need for a sport apart from cricket.
Akshay said, "People should know more about other sports like hockey, kabaddi, football rather than cricket and it should be encouraged, the audience should know more about Hockey, and it should be encouraged. People should know what happened in 1948... How we won the first Olympic gold medal in hockey after the independence of India. I think things also have changed because the government is supporting the sport a lot, the number of medals are increasing in the game, so I am happy seeing the encouragement."
Akshay further said, "I hope after this film, hockey gets the respect that it commands. It is an important game that gave our country the first ever gold medal after independence. So I hope things change after our film."
The film includes Kunal Kapoor, Amit Sadh, Vineet Kumar Singh, Mouni Roy, Sunny Kaushal, music composers Sachin-Jigar and director Reema Kagti.
