The harrowing story of Kathua gripped the nation with disgust and disappointment, while the political parties are lashing out at each other and dragging it as a religious issue Bollywood celebrities have come up to show their support and condemn the heinous crime committed in a temple of all places.

The story broke out when the corpse of an 8-year-old girl was found and the autopsy revealed what she had gone through and finally silenced by killing her.

Although the perpetrators have been caught, legal action and judgment still hasn't been given out.

During an event for her film RAAZI, Alia Bhatt gave her thoughts on the subject, she said, "I don't think only people in Bollywood are upset. I think all over the country people are upset, on a humanitarian level there is anger. It is a disgraceful, shameful and terrible thing that's happened, as a girl, as a woman, as a human being and as a part of the country, I feel very bad and hurt that something like this has happened."

She further added that the matter made her more upset stating, "There was a time when I was reading a lot about it but in the last two days, I have stopped because I thought if I keep reading about it, it's going to make me more and more upset and angry and really hurt. I just hope, from my heart, that justice is served. As a country, we should go out there and condemn it because this cannot be happening to us constantly".

The subject was relevant to her as Alia's next film RAAZI held a filming schedule in Jammu and Kashmir.

The film is scheduled to release on 11th May 2018.
