Amitabh Bachchan and Shoojit Sircar have often worked together on great films and entertaining commercials. The ace ad filmmaker re-unites with his favourite movie star for an upcoming new television commercial. In this one, Mr Bachchan plays a Sikh army man.
Having collaborated in the past in the impressive Gujarat Tourism campaign ads, Sircar as always, gets to create an interesting and fun story for this commercial with Mr Bachchan. Their rapport- as filmmaker and actor- extends to memorable movies Piku and Pink. In this commercial, given that he plays a Sikh man, Mr Bachchan got a tad bit nostalgic.
“Mr Bachchan told me that every time he gets to play a Sikh character, he remembers his mother, Teji Bachchan. His mother was Sikh and representative of the robust Punjabi culture. He feels that both his mother and his grand father would have been very proud to see him play a Sikh army man,” recalls Sircar. Shooting with the mega star makes work fun for Sircar on set, as their conversations range across many topics.
“Each time I get a chance to shoot with him, I am reminded of just how well read and knowledgeable Mr Bachchan is,” says Sircar.
Shoojit Sircar has recently delivered the critically acclaimed hit October with Varun Dhawan, and is currently working on his next film.
“Shooting with him is more like having a fulfilling conversation with a friend, as we talk about movies, sports, books and all that’s happening around the world. It never feel like work, although when he delivers a shot, it is always pitch perfect. ”
