ANDAZ APNA APNA music director Tushar Bhatia awarded the first 'Kala Vibhooti Samman'
Film ANDAZ APNA APNA music director Tushar Bhatia was awarded the first ‘Kala Vibhooti Samman’, an award instituted by Padma Binani Foundation, an NGO working in the fields of education, fine arts and literature since the past two decades. The Award has been instituted to celebrate the 'Dwishatkiy Sampoorti Mahotsav' of the Foundation. It was given for Tushar Bhatia's sustained contribution to the worlds of Indian music, and literature. Padma Bhushan Pandit Arvind Parikh, the noted sitarist, who was the chief guest, presented the award. MLA Raj K Purohit was the guest of honour at the function held at Sophia Bhabha Hall, Mumbai, on Tuesday 19th February 2019.
Dhrupad, dhamar and sitar ‘gat’ compositions; jingles and ad film music; film songs and ghazals - Bhatia's musical repertoire includes all these and more. The award citation praised him particularly for his ability and commitment to popularize Indian classical and folk music trends through his raga-based compositions and programmes. The highlights of the musical programme showcasing his work that followed the award presentation were his song 'kabhi dheere dheere ga,' in Raga Bhupali sung by Bhatia's kid students and his bandish in Raga Miya ki Malhar 'Aayee aayee barkha ritu' that was rendered by noted singer Sanjeevani.
Andaz Apna Apna was a 1994 slapstick comedy starring Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Karishma Kapoor, Raveena Tandon in the lead roles directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. The film has since emerged as a cult film over the years. The lexicon of the movie has become part of every day language.
