Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has come out in the defense of director Dibakar Banerjee, who has been accused for casting couch by actress Payal Rohatgi. Anurag flatly dismissed the allegations made by Payal.

Said Anurag, "I don't see any controversy here. If the woman (Payal) is saying that she's sleeping with a director, then why would she have a problem in showing him her stomach? I think there is a contradiction in there. I completely stand by Dibakar. Such things are happening in our industry. A lot of people get messages from actors and actresses, all the time. I know Dibakar pretty well. Many filmmakers including me knew about the messages he was getting."

When asked if casting couch really exists in the industry, Anurag said, "Casting couch or any kind of couch exists everywhere. It depends from person to person. Filmmakers today have integrity. I don't think Dibakar or Imtiaz or anyone would give a role to someone just because he/she is sleeping with him. No filmmaker will compromise his film's integrity. We all audition and we all have casting directors. I am a filmmaker and I get 50 such messages everyday. Most of the directors don't meet actors these days at the first place, precisely for this reason," said the director firmly.

He further added, "If anything of that sort happened, the traumatized person reacts immediately. Not after two or four months."

Quiz him if it's a publicity stunt, Anurag says, "I don't know if it's a publicity stunt. Payal Rohatgi is a slightly disturbed person. She probably needs help. We shouldn't give importance to such issues."

Let's wait and watch how things further develop from here.
