Principal photography began for the film SUI DHAAGA starring Varun Dhawan and Anushka, which shows a side of India forgotten in the new age of flaunting abs and flashy clothing. The story revolves around a couple who take to tailoring to make their ends meet, Anushka plays the role of Mamta who is an embroiderer and Varun Dhawan portrays a tailor called Mauji.
Set in Madhya Pradesh, this heart-warming tale is about the story of pride and self-reliance, rooted in the heart of India. Anushka Sharma, who is currently shooting for the film took to a photo sharing portal to show her learning the craft of embroidery and shared it with her followers.
Directed Sharat Katariya and produced by Maneesh Sharma under the banner of Yash Raj Films, the film focuses on the ‘Make In India’ slogan made hugely popular by our Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Varun in an earlier interview with the Indian Express was quoted saying, “From Gandhiji to Modiji, our leaders have always endorsed the mantra of Made in India. With SUI DHAAGA, I am proud to take their message to millions of movie lovers in a way that is entertaining and relevant. I really liked the script that Sharat had written and I am happy that I am teaming up with YRF on this one. Anushka and I are pairing up for the first time so I am sure there will be fireworks.”
The film is set to release for 28th September release and it will be nice to see two huge Bollywood stars take on such a ground-to-earth role which could add another dimension to their resume.
