Pop singer Ariana Grande teased the new single on social media last Saturday, the song doesn't feature on Ariana's recently released Sweetner album. Ariana does not hold back in this song. Does she defies her fear by publicly addressing ex-boyfriends by name before coming to a really healthy conclusion that what's most important for her right now, in light of everything she's been through over the past couple of years Is the relationship she has with herself?
In the music video of Thank U, Next, Ariana Grande names four of her exes, Big Sean, Ricky Alvarez, Pete Davidson, and Mac Miller. The first three got a Burn Book page about them in her music video's Mean Girls tribute; Miller, who passed away in September, did not.
\"Wish I could say 'Thank you' to Malcolm. 'Cause he was an angel.\"
The most touching line is about her former boyfriend Mac Miller who tragically passed away in September 2018, where Ariana says she wishes she could speak to him and let him know what he meant to her. Since his death, she has posted a series of tributes to Mac on Instagram and now appears to be looking after his dog.
\"Even almost got married. And for Pete, I'm so thankful.\"
Ariana also referred her most recent relationship with Pete. The couple got together in May, confirming it with an adorably joint picture of them. Social media went crazy when Ariana was seen wearing a ring on her finger just three weeks into their relationship. Then a few months of love, tattoos, a pet pig and public declarations of love, but the couple suddenly broke up and ended their engagement in October.
\"Wrote some songs about Ricky. Now I listen and laugh.\"
Ariana dated Ricky in 2015 for roughly a year. They kept things relatively low-key but the pair were first linked when they were seen kissing in that doughnut-gate video. In the Thank U, Next, Ariana says she wrote songs about Ricky. The song Moonlight from the Dangerous Woman album was written about Ricky as that was his nickname for Ariana.
\"Thought I'd end up with Sean. But he wasn't a match.\"
Ariana dated rapper Big Sean for eight months before calling it quits in April 2015 with their reps saying they both \"deeply care for each other and remain close friends\". The two had worked together with Sean rapping on Right There in 2013 and Problem in 2015.
