BAHUBALI, BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN and DRISHYAM hit half century - A great sign for the industry!

They were not only huge hits that set the cash registers ringing in at the BO but they also paved a way into audiences’ heart and left them in awe. Interestingly, all the three crowd-pleasing films enjoyed a long run. Where some Bollywood films struggle even to achieve the biggest opening day collection, these three films enjoyed a smooth run in the theatres and went packed-houses despite facing numerous releases.
While BAHUBALI and BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN have already completed 50 days at the Box-office, now Nishikant Kamat directed DRISHYAM has achieved the same feat! While Rajamouli is not-so in favour of the movie creating record number of days (50 or 100 or 175) just for the sake of it (who had posted his views few days back on a social networking site), for Ajay it is nothing less than a golden jubilee. As the film marked 50 days run, Ajay immediately took to a micro-blogging site and expressed, “Drishyam completes 50 days.. feels similar to a film completing a golden jubilee.”
And Ajay’s cheer is all worth it because everyone including the trade, DRISHYAM team were a bit apprehensive of the film doing very well (despite having a strong content). Reason? Well, the two mega blockbusters Rajamouli’s BAHUBALI and Kabir Khan’s BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN (which released before DRISHYAM) had already gripped the nation and were swaying the Box-office big time. Nevertheless, the film performed extremely well and stunned everyone.
Well, to each his own! But we are all the more happy and upbeat to discover that the system of ‘50-days run’ or ‘75-days run’ or for that matter ‘100-days run’ is back in vogue with films like BAHUBALI, BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN and DRISHYAM. Are happy days here again for the film industry?
