BEFIKRE: Aditya Chopra and Aamir Khan share a common liking
It seems much like Bollywood perfectionist Aamir Khan, producer & director Aditya Chopra is also besotted with the month of December. Like Aamir Khan, Adi, as he is lovingly called, also prefers to release his films in December (call it a coincidence Aamir Khan’s DHOOM 3 that was produced by Adi also released in December). While his earlier movies DILWALE DULHANIA LE JAYENGE and MOHABBATEIN released in October, looks like later on his preference shifted to December.

While his last directorial project RAB NE BANA DI JODI that had come almost eight years ago released on December 12, 2008, his production venture BAND BAAJA BAARAAT, that had launched the career of Ranveer Singh, had hit the screens on December 10, 2010. Both the films were well-received and also did good business. And now interestingly Aditya Chopra’s new project BEFIKRE (with which he is returning to direction after eight years) featuring Ranveer Singh and Vaani Kapoor, has also been scheduled for December release. The film is slated to release on December 9, 2016.
Though Adi has released many films as producer at different time intervals, what makes RAB NE BANA DI JODI and BAND BAAJA BAARAAT special is the fact these films starred two of his favourites SRK and Ranveer.
BEIKRE was announced by Aditya Chopra on the eve of his late father Yash Chopra’s 83rd birth anniversary on September 27. Later, after much speculation Ranveer Singh and Vaani Kapoor, who personally made the announcement, were finalized for the film. This would be Adi’s first film as director without Shah Rukh Khan.
