Blame it on... PR or their 'stars'??!!
\n Today's lunch time was majorly dominated by two topics. Both worthy of a laughter and how the entertainment industry functions. One was about yet another celebrity ‘announcing' a divorce and asking for ‘privacy'!! The other was about this very popular young and beautiful female star daughter of yet another renowned Bollywood name. The story that appeared in a leading daily tabloid was about the star probably dumping her team of managers and her PR agency in tow. The story reasoned that probably the star was impacted by the consecutive not so great outcomes of her releases.\n
\n More often than not, we hear that the stars are spending time ‘reading scripts' before signing on the dotted lines. Which makes me understand that these intelligent people who are so concerned about a film's script before getting on board seem to be sure about the films they actually sign and are a part of. The question is, do they consult their marketing and PR team about their decision? I'm not too sure but guess not. So, do these stars act as per the PR team's strategies or are influenced by the producer's strategies instead that might be forced upon the PR agency. Well, that's an insider's information. Our guess is that the other professionals namely the managers and the PR agency become the scapegoats of decisions that their clients take and ultimately are shown the doors. In many cases, guesses are that these professionals might have to even forgo their well-deserved fees too because their client's decision went wrong!!\n
\n There are also often incidences of a celebrity committing some action, which is observed and reported by some publication and the PR is made to front it to get the report undone. If not, then probably either face the music or the door. On the flip side, do we ever hear of a celebrity achieving his/her desired results or reach dizzying heights, stepping ahead and sing praises of their marketing team of PR agency? Well, the answer may be mostly NO.\n
\n The discussion may not end at this but one wonders how much of the PR is to be blamed or their ‘stars'?? Or maybe the celebs will have to introspect their acts, as the famous saying goes “Umra bhar Ghalib yahi Bhool Karta raha, Dhool Chehre pe thi, aur Aaina saaf karta raha”\n
