With the changing times the film industry has realized that women are not just for songs & dance or mere showpiece to attract eye-balls. There is much more to them.
2014 was indeed a women-centric year for Bollywood as it churned out maximum number (14) of female-oriented subjects. As we are approaching towards the year end, let’s have a run-through of the films that showcased women power.
DEDH ISHQIYA: Madhuri Dixit and Huma Qureshi con Naseeruddin Shah and Arshad Warsi’s characters in the movie. The film was a sequel of ISHQIYA, where Vidya Balan had played the central role.

GULAAB GANG: Madhuri Dixit runs a gang of womenfolk, clad in pink saree, who go about standing up for the meek and downtrodden, take up issues like domestic violence, the dowry system, rape, electricity matters, and education. LAKSHMI: Singer-turned-actor Monali Thakur played a 14-year old girl who is kidnapped and sold into prostitution. Nagesh Kukunoor’s film dealt with the harsh realities of human trafficking and child prostitution, which continue behind closed curtains in rural areas of India.
