Bollywood Box Office Report Of The Week: 12th April 2018

The coming Friday will witness the release of two very different genre films taking on each other at the box-office, the Varun Dhawan starrer, romantic drama, OCTOBER and Prabhu Deva starrer, silent horror thriller, MERCURY. The Shoojit Sircar directed OCTOBER is expected to lead from the front and should take a good to decent start, especially at multiplexes of big cities and metros, while MERCURY should also find its own audience.

Last week’s two releases, Irrfan Khan’s BLACKMAIL and Manoj Bajpayee and Tabu starrer MISSING, behaved as per expectations. While both the films failed to enthuse the audience, BLACKMAIL was far ahead netting 15 crore and MISSING lagged behind with a below 5 crore figure, both during the opening weekend.

BAAGHI 2 is also a surprisingly good overseas hit grossing over $6m with £365,000 from UK and $1,165,500 from the US, till the second weekend (6-8 April).

RAID has performed remarkably well in the overseas (good in US) grossing £175,000 from UK and $1,001,000 from the US.

Concluding with Luv Ranjan’s (PYAAR KA PUNCHNAMA fame) SONU KE TITU KI SWEETY, the film added another 1.50 crore thus netting 101.50 crore in six weeks from India and is a super duper hit.
