Bollywood Box Office Report Of The Week: 12th feb 2019

With Omung Kumar’s PM NARENDRA MODI being postponed yet again, there are bunched releases  like Kunaal Roy Kapur and Tara Alisha Berry’s MARUDHAR EXPRESS , Vivek Agnihotri’s THE TASHKENT FILES, Rakesh Ranjan’s mystery thriller  PAHARGANJ- THE LITTLE AMSTERDAM OF INDIA and Saurabh Shukla and Nandita Das’s ALBERT PINTO KO GUSSA KYON AATA HAI etc. It’s but natural that the above mentioned releases will find little patronage, especially as they have only  four clear days to make a mark  as Karan Johar’s Varun, Alia, Madhuri and Sanjay starrer, KALANK releases on Wednesday, 17th April due to National holiday, Mahavir Jayanti. Moreover, the audience will hold on its purse strings for the much awaited biggie,       

Checking out last week’s premier release, Robbie Grewal’s, John Abraham-Mouni Roy starrer, spy thriller R.A.W, after an ordinary opening day the film did show some improvement netting 21 crore during the opening week, which gives the film a wee bit of chance and the outcome will depend upon the weekdays run. RAW. Has also disappointed in the overseas grossing  £35,000 from UK and $140,000 from the US during the opening weekend (5-7 April). 

The other release, Oscar nominated Ashwin Kumar’s NO FATHERS IN KASHMIR, found critical accolades but no commercial rewards and is a debacle.

The other release, Salman Khan’s home production (Salma Khan produced) NOTEBOOK  failed to entice audience and is a commercial failure netting around 3.75 crore during its opening week while Eros International’s GONE KESH is a  washout.

Adding another 29.50 crore during its second week , KESARI  has netted 135.50 crore in two weeks from India and is a hit. KESARI is decent in the overseas (good in US) grossing $3.75m with  £330,00 from UK and $1,825,00 from the US till the third weekend (5-7 April). 

Moving on, Red Chillies and Azure Entertainment’s Amitabh-Taapsee starrer, BADLA, the film saw another rewarding week collecting 1 crore from Bombay (collections from other cinemas unrecieved), 20 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 8 lakhs from Surat,  7 lakhs from Baroda, 2.50 lakhs from Rajkot, 45 lakhs from Pune, 2.75 lakhs from Nasik, 1.50 lakhs from Goa, 60 lakhs from Delhi city, 20 lakhs from Noida,  15 lakhs  from Ghaziabad,  9.75 lakhs from Kanpur, 10.75 lakhs from Lucknow, 1 lakh from Agra, 1.50 lakhs from Allahabad, 2.50 lakhs from Dehradun, 20 lakhs from Gurgaon, 3.75 lakhs from Faridabad, 5 lakhs from Chandigarh, 2.50 lakhs from Ludhiana,  35 lakhs  from Calcutta, 2 lakhs from Siliguri, 4.25 lakhs from Patna, 1.75 lakhs from Ranchi,  5lakhs from Bhubaneshwar, 2 lakhs from Guwahati, 6 lakhs from Nagpur,  5 lakhs from Raipur, 8.50 lakhs from Indore, 1.50 lakhs from Gwalior, 4.50 lakhs from Bhopal, 10 lakhs  from Jaipur, 1.50 lakhs from Jodhpur, 1.75 lakhs from Kota, 2.25 lakhs from Udaipur, 10.50 lakhs from Hyderabad, 1.55 lakhs from Aurangabad, 45 lakhs  from Bangalore, 1.50 lakhs from Visakhapatnam, 1.75 lakhs from Madras and 1.50 lakhs from Kochi. Adding 6 crore  during its fourth week , BADLA has netted 85 crore in  four weeks from India and is a clean hit ! BADLA is also on a good overseas run (great in US) grossing over $4m with  £225,000 from UK and $1,865,000 from the US. 

Concluding with Films’ Kriti Sanon and Katrik Aryan starrer LUKA CHUPPI, added another 1.50 crore, thus netting 86.50 crore in  four weeks from India and is a hit. LUKA CHUPPI has also performed very well in the overseas (especially US)  grossing £140,000 from UK and $975,000 from the US.
