Bollywood Box Office Report Of The Week 12th November 2015
Let us start this week’s column by stating the obvious! This year’s Diwali release, the Sooraj Barjatya directed Salman-Sonam starrer, PREM RATAN DHAN PAYO, is all set to create History at the box-office. The first day may see the biggest single day figure of 40 crore plus, which would mean that the same record (established last Diwali) by the Shah Rukh Khan starrer, HAPPY NEW YEAR, stands to fall. In fact it would not be a surprise at all if PREM RATAN DHAN PAYO ends up netting over 125 crore, by the end of the first extended weekend, as PRDP releases on Thursday. PREM RATAN DHAN PAYO will also witness a magical run in the overseas.

The dull pre-Diwali and the lack of face value took a toll on all the releases of last week, CHARLIE KAY CHAKKAR MEIN, RANBANKA, YAARA SILLY SILLY, RUN BHUUMI and FOUR PILLARS OF BASEMENT. None of the mentioned releases could cross even the crore mark during the opening weekend, as the audience preferred the holdover releases.
|MAIN AUR CHARLES AND SHAANDAAR|
Meanwhile as expected and predicted it was the Randeep-Adil starrer, MAIN AUR CHARLES, which put up a reasonable performance collecting 1 crore from Bombay (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 10 lakhs from Ahmedebad, 4.50 lakhs from Surat, 3 lakhs from Baroda (collections from 5 cinemas unreceived), 2 lakhs from Rajkot, 20 lakhs from Pune, 2.65 lakhs from Nasik, 5 lakhs from Goa, 1.25 lakhs from Belgaum, 70 lakhs from Delhi city, 12.25 lakhs from Noida, 10.50 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 5 lakhs from Kanpur, 5 lakhs from Lucknow, 1.50 lakhs from Agra, 1.50 lakhs from Allahabad, 1 lakh from Aligarh, 3.75 lakhs from Dehradun, 20 lakhs from Gurgaon, 6 lakhs from Faridabad, 5 lakhs from Chandigarh, 2 lakhs from Jalandhar, 1.75 lakhs from Patiala, 1.85 lakhs from Amritsar, 1.75 lakhs from Ludhiana, 1 lakh from Bhatinda, 15 lakhs from Calcutta, 1 lakh from Siliguri, 2.25 lakhs from Ranchi, 1.20 lakhs from Bhubaneshwar, 2 lakhs from Guwahati, 5.50 lakhs from Nagpur, 5 lakhs from Raipur, 7 lakhs from Indore, 1 lakh from Gwalior (collections from 2 cinemas unreceived), 3 lakhs from Bhopal (collections from 3 cinemas unreceived), 6 lakhs from Jaipur (collections from 6 cinemas unreceived), 2 lakhs from Jodhpur, 1 lakh from Ajmer, 1.50 lakhs from Kota, 2.50 lakhs from Udaipur, 15 lakhs from Hyderabad, 2.15 lakhs from Aurangabad, 25 lakhs from Bangalore, 1 lakh from Mangalore and 2.15 lakhs from Madras. From the remaining releases it was just Kunal Khemu’s GUDDU KI GUN which netted 2.50 crore and Yash Raj Films’ TITLI that pocketed 1.75 crore, during the opening week. The remaining releases could not even touch the crore mark!
Moving on, Vikas Bahl’s Pankaj, Shahid and Alia starrer, SHAANDAAR, collapsed totally adding just around 3 crore, thus netting 40 crore in two weeks from India. The film with a total cost of 60-61 crore is a box-office debacle. SHAANDAAR is quite good in the overseas grossing £295,000 from UK and $600,000 from the US till the third weekend (6-8 November).
