This week will witness the release of Mukesh Bhatt’s BEGUM JAAN, the award winning Konkona Sen Sharma directed A DEATH IN THE GUNJ and the Hollywood venture FAST & FURIOUS 8. While Vidya Balan’s BEGUM JAAN is sure to lead the box-office race, A DEATH IN THE GUNJ too is expected to be patronized by the niche audience and last but not the least, Vin Diesel’s FAST & FURIOUS 8 (banking on the popularity of the franchise) will definitely make a mark at the ticket window with its target audience.

None of the new releases of last Friday, LAALI KI SHAADI MEIN LAADDOO DEEWANA, BLUE MOUNTAINS, MUKTI BHAWAN and MIRZA JUULIET, made much of an impact at the box-office. For the stat conscious, the front runner turned out to be MIRZA JUULIET while Adil Hussain’s sterling performance in MUKTI BHAWAN impressed the critics as well as the discerning audience, at high end multiplexes.

PHILLAURI has also performed admirably (given the cost and cast) in the overseas grossing nearly $2m with £180,000 from UK and $460,000 from the US, till the third weekend (7-9 April).
