Bollywood Box Office Report Of The Week: 14 September 2018

This week sees about half-a-dozen releases including Abhishek-Vicky starrer MARMARZIYAAN, Jackky Bhagnani’s MITRON, HOTEL MILAN featuring Kunal Roy Kapur and Zeeshan Qadri, Manoj, Freida and Anupam film LOVE SONIA, Karan Kashyap directed KATHOR etc., along with Hollywood’s THE PREDATOR. Needless to add, that some will postpone at the eleventh hour and from the remaining it is just MANMARZIYAAN which can impress at the box-office. In fact, once again, the two week old STREE will put up a good fight!

 

Last Friday’s multiple releases , Imtiaz Ali’s LAILA MAJNU, the Manoj Bajpayee starrer GALI GULEIYAN, J.P. ‘Border’ Dutta directed PALTAN as also Shiv Nadar Foundations’ HALKAA, failed to excite the audience much cutting into each other’s business. Comparatively speaking it was PALTAN that fared the best from amongst the new releases netting around 5.50 crore during the opening weekend while LAILA MAJNU lagged far behind at 2 crore, during the same period.

 

Checking out Maddock Films and D2R Film Pvt Ltd’s Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor starrer STREE, the film saw a bumper opening week collecting 8 crore from Bombay (collections from other cinemas unrecieved), 1.50 crore from Ahmedabad, 53.50 lakhs from Surat, 40 lakhs from Baroda, 20 lakhs from Rajkot, 2.75 crore from Pune, 23 lakhs from Nasik, 26.75 lakhs from Goa, 6.50 lakhs from Belgaum, 5.85 crore from Delhi city, 1.75 crore from Noida, 1.50 crore from Ghaziabad, 60 lakhs from Kanpur, 1.50 crore from Lucknow, 41.75 lakhs from Agra, 22.50 lakhs from Allahabad, 10 lakhs from Aligarh, 47.25 lakhs from Dehradun, 1.75 crore from Gurgaon, 65 lakhs from Faridabad, 3.55 lakhs from Kurukshetra,8.25 lakhs from Panipat, 32.25 lakhs from Chandigarh, 12.75 lakhs from Jalandhar, 7.25 lakhs from Patiala, 13.25 lakhs from Amritsar, 21.75 lakhs from Ludhiana, 4.50 lakhs from Bhatinda, 3.50 lakhs from Ambala, 2.50 lakhs from Shimla, 7.75 lakhs from Jammu, 1.85 crore from Calcutta,2 lakhs from Darjeeling, 12.55 lakhs from Siliguri, 23.75 lakhs from Patna, 9 lakhs from Dhanbad, 32.50 lakhs from Ranchi, 18.50 lakhs from Bhubaneshwar, 22.75 lakhs from Guwahati, 11 lakhs from Muzaffarpur, 55 lakhs from Nagpur,61.50 lakhs from Raipur, 1.25crore from Indore, 30 lakhs from Gwalior (collections from 2 cinemas unrecieved) 80 lakhs from Bhopal (collections from 2 cinemas unrecieved), 1.50 crore from Jaipur (collections from 2 cinemas unrecieved), 20.50 lakhs from Jodhpur, 17.75 lakhs from Ajmer, 6.25 lakhs from Bikaner, 32.25 lakhs from Kota, 28.50 lakhs from Udaipur, 1crore from Hyderabad, 26.75 lakhs from Aurangabad, 2.25 crore from Bangalore, 11.75 lakhs from Mangalore, 9.75 lakhs from Mysore, 4.75 lakhs from Vijayawada, 10.50 lakhs from Visakhapatnam , 10 lakhs from Madras and 4 lakhs from Kochi. Netting 60 crore during the opening week from India, the super hit STREE is on way to a blockbuster status, given the nominal 24 crore cost and rock steady second week. STREE is also decent in the overseas grossing $1.30m with nearly $500,000 from the US.

 

The other release of the same week as STREE, Sunny Sounds Pvt Ltd and Pen India Pvt Ltd’s YAMLA PAGLA DEEWAANA: PHIR SE, saw a poor inaugural week as it collected 85 lakhs from Bombay (collections from cinemas unreceived), 25 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 8.50 lakhs from Surat, 5 lakhs from Baroda, 5 lakhs from Rajkot, 15 lakhs from Pune, 3 lakhs from Nasik, 5.50 lakhs from Goa, 1.25 crore from Delhi city, 25 lakhs from Noida, 30lakhs from Ghaziabad, 15 lakhs from Kanpur, 25 lakhs from Lucknow, 15 lakhs from Agra, 5.75 lakhs from Allahabad, 2.50 lakhs from Aligarh, 7.75 lakhs from Dehradun, 20 lakhs from Gurgaon, 11.75 lakhs from Faridabad, 2.50 lakhs from Kurukshetra, 3.50 lakhs from Panipat, 6.50 lakhs from Chandigarh, 4.50 lakhs from Jalandhar, 2 lakhs from Patiala, 5 lakhs from Amritsar,8 lakhs from Ludhiana, 2.50 lakhs from Bhatinda, 1 lakh from Ambala, 2.50 lakhs from Jammu, 10 lakhs
