Bollywood Box Office Report Of The Week: 18th Oct 2018

The two Dussehra releases, Vipul Amrutlal Shah’s Arjun-Parineeti starrer NAMASTE ENGLAND and Junglee Pictures Ayushmann, Sanya and Nina Gupta starrer BADHAAI HO, are set for an interesting clash at the ticket window. While BADHAAI HO is sure to be the front runner with a superb start, NAMASTE ENGLAND will find select audience in Delhi-NCR and East Punjab, otherwise the film is not expected to achieve any laurels at the box-office .

 

Coming to last Friday’s multiple releases, Pradeep Sarkar directed HELICOPTER EELA, Soham Shah’s horror mythical thriller TUMBBAD, Mukesh Bhatt’s romantic drama JALEBI, Govinda’s FRYDAY, have all failed at the ticket window. The front runner (if one is forced to say so!) was Kajol’s HELICOPTER EELA, the collections of which were pathetic from the first show itself and failed to pick up.

 

Checking out Sriram Raghavan’s Ayushmann, Tabu and Radhika starrer, ANDHADHUN, the film saw an exponentially growing weekend and also maintained a rock steady run during the weekdays too collecting 5.50 crore from Bombay (collections from other cinemas unrecieved), 95 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 28.25 lakhs from Surat, 23.50 lakhs from Baroda, 7.50 lakhs from Rajkot, 1.75 crore from Pune, 11 lakhs from Nasik, 16 lakhs from Goa, 3.50 lakhs from Belgaum, 3.25 crore from Delhi city, 95 lakhs from Noida, 56 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 18.50 lakhs from Kanpur, 50 lakhs from Lucknow, 10.25 lakhs from Agra, 9 lakhs from Allahabad, 3.50 lakhs from Aligarh, 18.50 lakhs from Dehradun, 1 crore from Gurgaon, 25.25 lakhs from Faridabad, 1.55 lakhs from Kurukshetra, 2.50 lakhs from Panipat, 25 lakhs from Chandigarh, 6.50 lakhs from Jalandhar, 5.50 lakhs from Patiala, 7.25 lakhs from Amritsar, 10 lakhs from Ludhiana, 2.75 lakhs from Bhatinda, 1.75 lakhs from Ambala, 3.55 lakhs from Jammu, 1.25 crore from Calcutta, 5.25 lakhs from Siliguri, 10.75 lakhs from Patna, 3.25 lakhs from Dhanbad, 9 lakhs from Ranchi, 9.25 lakhs from Bhubaneshwar, 7.25 lakhs from Guwahati, 2.25 lakhs from Muzaffarpur, 25 lakhs from Nagpur, 17.75 lakhs from Raipur, 55 lakhs from Jaipur , 10 lakhs from Jodhpur, 4 lakhs from Ajmer, 1.75 lakhs from Bikaner, 8 lakhs from Kota, 9.50 lakhs from Udaipur, 50 lakhs from Hyderabad, 9.50 lakhs from Aurangabad, 1.50 crore from Bangalore, 7.50 lakhs from Mangalore, 6 lakhs from Mysore, 1.75 lakhs from Vijayawada, 4 lakhs from Visakhapatnam and 1 lakh from Kochi. Netting 26 crore during the opening week from India, and given the second weekend trend, ANDHADHUN is on way to a clean hit status, if not more. ANDHADHUN has also impressed in the overseas grossing $1.5m with £100,000 from UK and $720,000 from the US, till the second weekend (12-14 October)

 

The other release of the same week as ANDHADHUN, SKF films’ Ayush-Warina starrer, LOVEYATRI , failed to achieve much except in Gujarat as it collected 2.25 crore from Bombay (collections from other cinemas unrecieved), 70 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 35 lakhs from Surat, 25 lakhs from Baroda, 11 lakhs from Rajkot, 45 lakhs from Pune, 9 lakhs from Nasik, 6.25 lakhs from Goa, 2 lakhs from Belgaum, 55 lakhs from Delhi city, 12.50 lakhs from Noida, 13.25 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 10.75 lakhs from Kanpur, 25 lakhs from Lucknow, 5 lakhs from Agra, 5 lakhs from Allahabad, 1.75 lakhs from Aligarh, 4 lakhs from Dehradun, 10 lakhs from Gurgaon, 6.50 lakhs from Faridabad, 1 lakh from Panipat, 3.25 lakhs from Chandigarh, 1.50 lakhs from Jalandhar, 1 lakh from Amritsar, 2 lakhs from Ludhiana, 1.50 lakhs from Jammu, 20 lakhs from Calcutta, 2.50 lakhs from Siliguri, 4 lakhs from Patna, 1.50 lakhs from Dhanbad, 4.50 lakhs from Ranchi, 1.55 lakhs from Bhubaneshwar, 2.25 lakhs from Guwahati, 1.75 lakhs from Muzaffarpur, 15 lakhs from Nagpur, 11 lakhs from Raipur, 25 lakhs from Jaipur , 6.55 lakhs from Jodhpur, 4 lakhs from Ajmer, 5.75 lakhs from Kota, 8 lakhs from Udaipur, 25 lakhs from Hyderabad, 27.50 lakhs from Aurangabad, 40 lakhs from Bangalore, 1.50 lakhs from Mangalore, 1.50 lakhs from Mysore, and 1.50 lakhs from Visakhapatnam. Netting 10 crore during the opening week from India, LOVEYATRI has failed at the box-office.

 

Meanwhile Yash Raj Films’ Varun-Anushka starrer SUI DHAGA- MADE IN INDIA, saw a huge fall in the second week, but the good first week (62 crore) was enough for the film to succeed! During the week SUI DHAAGA collected 1.75 crore from Bombay (collections from other cinemas unrecieved), 25 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 9.50 lakhs from Surat, 7.25 lakhs from Baroda, 1.85 lakhs from Rajkot, 45 lakhs from Pune, 5.75 lakhs from Nasik, 4.50 lakhs from Goa, 1.25 crore from Delhi city, 35 lakhs from Noida, 27.50 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 13.25 lakhs from Kanpur, 27.50 lakhs from Lucknow, 9.50 lakhs from Agra, 6.25 lakhs from Allahabad, 1.75 lakhs from Aligarh, 9.50 lakhs from Dehradun, 30 lakhs from Gurgaon, 11 lakhs from Faridabad, 2 lakhs from Panipat, 7 lakhs from Chandigarh, 1.50 lakhs from Jalandhar, 1.50 lakhs from Patiala, 2.50 lakhs from Amritsar, 4.50 lakhs from Ludhiana, 1.50 lakhs from Jammu, 1.25 crore from Calcutta, 5.25 lakhs from Siliguri, 10.75 lakhs from Patna, 3.25 lakhs from Dhanbad, 9 lakhs from Ranchi, 9.25 lakhs from Bhubaneshwar, 7.25 lakhs from Guwahati, 2.25 lakhs from Muzaffarpur, 25 lakhs from Nagpur, 17.75 lakhs from Raipur, 30 lakhs from Jaipur (collections from 2 cinemas unrecieved), 5.25 lakhs from Jodhpur, 2.50 lakhs from Ajmer, 1.50 lakhs from Bikaner, 525 lakhs from Kota, 5 lakhs from Udaipur, 25lakhs from Hyderabad, 4.75 lakhs from Aurangabad, 40 lakhs from Bangalore, 2.50 lakhs from Mangalore, 1.50 lakhs from Visakhapatnam. Adding another 13 crore, SUI DHAAGA has netted 75 crore in two weeks from India and is a hit. The film had already recovered the entire investment from the non-theatrical rights (for the producer and distributor YRF) and has additionally fetched handsome profits of 35 crore from India and 10 crore from overseas. SUI DHAAGA has also done well in the overseas grossing £190,000 from UK and $1,000,000 from the US.

 

Concluding with Maddock Films and D2R Film Pvt Ltd’s Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor starrer STREE, the film added another 3 crore and has thus netted 130 crore in six weeks from India. And that will approximately be it’s final total. Just to repeat, the Krishna D.K and Raj Nidimoru venture is now a huge blockbuster, given the 24 crore all inclusive cost. STREE has also grossed $1.75m from the overseas with $775,000 from the US.
