This Friday will witness the release of Omung Kumar’s Aishwarya and Randeep starrer SARBJIT along with EROS International’s SAAT KADAM featuring Amit Sadh. It is but obvious that the biopic SARBJIT will be the preferred film for the audience, based on the good promotion and patriotic flavour. Also listed for release Tips’ Punjabi venture, Gippy Grewal’s KAPTAAN, which will surely make a mark in East Punjab. Having said that, one can’t ignore the Hollywood venture, X MEN: APOCALYPSE, which can spoil the party of the Indian releases, given the trend this year!

SARBJIT AND AZHAR
SARBJIT AND AZHAR

The major release of last week, Ekta Kapoor’s Emraan Hashmi starrer, AZHAR, could not capitalise on the good promotion and popular music and may end the first week netting 30 crore (estimated) from India. The best case scenario for AZHAR is likely to be an average status. AZHAR is so-so in the overseas grossing £38,000 in the UK and $125,000 from the US, during the opening weekend (13-15 May).

The other prominent release of the week, Vivek Agnihotri’s Anupam Kher starrer, BUDDHA IN A TRAFFIC JAM, saw a lot of acclaim but could not make much of an impact, commercially.
