Bollywood Box Office Report Of The Week: 22th feb 2019

This week will witness the next edition of the DHAMAAL series, TOTAL DHAMAAL. Produced by Fox Star Studios and Maruti International, the Indra Kumar directed Anil, Madhuri, Ajay, Arshad, Ritesh and Javed starrer, TOTAL DHAMAAL is expected to embark on a decent (good at places) start and then the rest will depend upon the content. 

The  premier release of last week, Excel Entertainment’s Zoya Akhtar directed Ranveer-Alia starrer, GULLY BOY, defied predictions opening almost on the level of SIMMBA (20 crore). The film continued it’s good run but may just end falling a tad short of the 100 crore mark, at the end of the extended opening week. The film is superb in the overseas, crossing the $5m mark with £315,000 from UK and $2,900,000 from the US during the opening weekend (15-17 February).

Meanwhile,  after a poor opening week, Vidhu Vinod Chopra Productions and Fox Star Studios’ Anil, Juhi, Sonam and Rajkummar starrer EK LADKI KO DEKHA TOH AISA LAGA, crashed further. Adding another 3 crore EK LADKI KO DEKHA TOH AISA LAGA has netted 21 crore in two weeks from India and has flopped. The film though has performed quite well in the US grossing $1.2m. 

Checking out  Kangana Ranaut’s  MANIKARNIKA-THE QUEEN OF JHANSI , the film saw another good run collecting 1.50 crore  from Bombay (collections from other cinemas unrecieved),  20 lakhs from Ahmedabad,  10 lakhs from Surat,  7.50 lakhs from Baroda, 2 lakhs from Rajkot, 65 lakhs from Pune, 7.50 lakhs from Nasik, 4.50 lakhs from Goa,  80 lakhs from Delhi city, 27.50 lakhs from Noida,  17.50 lakhs  from Ghaziabad, 8.75 lakhs from Kanpur, 25 lakhs from Lucknow, 4.75 lakhs from Agra, 6 lakhs from Allahabad, 1.25 lakhs from Aligarh, 7.75 lakhs from Dehradun,30 lakhs from Gurgaon, 7.25 lakhs from Faridabad, 1.50 lakhs from Panipat,  6.50 lakhs from Chandigarh, 2 lakhs from Jalandhar, 2.25 lakhs from Amritsar, 3.75 lakhs from Ludhiana, 2.50 lakhs from Jammu, 45 lakhs  from Calcutta, 3.50 lakhs from Siliguri, 5 lakhs from Patna, 2.50 lakhs from Dhanbad, 4.25 lakhs from Ranchi,  5.50 lakhs from Bhubaneshwar, 3.25 lakhs from Guwahati,  1.50 lakhs from Muzaffarpur, 15 lakhs from Nagpur, 10 lakhs from Raipur, 17.50 lakhs from Indore,  6.75 lakhs from Gwalior, 10 lakhs from Bhopal, 25 lakhs from Jaipur (collections from 2 cinemas unrecieved),  4.55 lakhs from Jodhpur, 3 lakhs from Ajmer, 4 lakhs from Kota,  5.50 lakhs from Udaipur, 20 lakhs from Hyderabad,  7 lakhs from Aurangabad, 35 lakhs  from Bangalore, 1.55 lakhs from Mangalore and 1.50 lakhs from Kochi. With another 10 crore MANIKARNIKA-THE QUEEN OF JHANSI has netted 90 crore in three weeks from India and is an above average success. The film has also scored in the overseas  grossing $3.50m with £170,000 from UK and $1,300,000 from the US.

Adding another 20 crore, URI- THE SURGICAL STRIKE has netted 220 crore in five weeks from India and is an all time blockbuster. URI-TSG is also an overseas super hit grossing $6.25m with $4m from the US.
