Bollywood Box Office Report Of The Week: 24th jan 2019

MANIKARNIKA-THE QUEEN OF JHANSI AND THACKERAY

It is going to be a very very interesting face off at the box-office this Friday as  MANIKARNIKA-THE QUEEN OF JHANSI takes on THACKERAY. While the two subjects are quite diverse but at the same time interesting as the two films feature master actors, Kangana as queen MANIKARNIKA  and Nawazuddin essaying Balasahab THACKERAY, so one cannot pick a winner. Having said that,  Mumbai circuit will be ruled by THACKERAY while the lavish mounting of MANIKARNIKA-THE QUEEN OF JHANSI will give it a pan-India thrust!
 

Coming to last week’s releases,  T-Series’ Emraan Hashmi starrer WHY CHEAT INDIA, Pahlaj Nihalani’s Govinda venture RANGEELA RAJA, BOMBAIRIYA featuring Radhika Apte, Avinash Dhyani’s 72 HOURS and Saurabh Shrivastava directed Arshad Warsi starrer FRAUD SAIYAAN, all cut a sorry picture at the box-office and it was only WHY CHEAT INDIA that barely managed a pathetic 2 crore opening weekend.

Meanwhile Bohra Bros. URI-TSG is also an overseas hit grossing $3.10m with $2m, just from the US.

Adding another 20 crore, SIMMBA has netted a huge 231 crore in three weeks from India and is a blockbuster. SIMMBA has also rocked the overseas grossing $13m plus with  £785,000 from UK and $4,985,000 from the US, till the fourth weekend (18-20 January).
