It’s still not over.. CBFC chief Pahlaj Nihalani has slapped a legal notice to the organizers of IIFA for defamation. Before this Pahlaj Nihalani has expressed his anger over the credibility of IIFA awards.
It is reported in India Today that CBFC chief Pahlaj Nihalani has sent a five-page legal notice to IIFA and Wizcraft International (the organizers of the event) demanding a public apology for the defamatory remarks passed against him by hosts Riteish Deshmukh and Manish Paul.
In the legal notice, Pahlaj Nihalani’s lawyer Suren Uppal stated that his client’s picture was misused at IIFA this year. Further the notice says that Nihalani was called as a ‘watchman’ during an act performed by Deshmukh and Paul at IIFA Rocks. The notice states that the intent was to create unpleasant atmosphere in the public against Nihalani.
The notice also names hosts Shahid Kapoor and Farhan Akhtar for passing defamatory remarks against Nihalani during IIFA 2016 as well.
However, Sabbas Joseph, director of Wizcraft International in a quote to Mid-Day has said that it’s a misunderstanding by saying, “There is no statement or event in the show that warrants any notice. We have always respected Pahlajji, who has originally been on the IIFA advisory board, and has always been [of tremendous] help. I am sure it is a misunderstanding that will be corrected once Pahlajji sees the show on television again.”
