Amazing! You need a legend to convince a legend and now it’s confirmed that the on screen adaptation of the 1984 Malayalam masterpiece by M. T. Vasudevan Nair - RANDAMOOZHAM (second turn) that will be made into a mega budget (rumoured to be 600 crores) trilingual in Malayalam, Hindi and English will see Amitabh Bachchan playing Bhishma.
Starring the Malayalam living legend Mohanlal as Bheema, RANDAMOOZHAM is the MAHABHARATA retold by the perspective of Bheema. Director Sreekumar has confirmed the megastar’s role in the film and has been quoted saying, “Yes, he (Mr. Bachchan) is the Bhishma of RANDAMOOZHAM. We aren’t taking any cinematic liberties with the character for the movie; he will be playing the role as it is in the book.”
Amitabh Bachchan and Mohanlal have previously collaborated twice in KANDAHAR and in the pathetic remake of SHOLAY by RGV called AAG. Less said about the previous collaborations much better.
But this promises to be something ‘huge’ and different that perfectly moulds the two legends - Mr. Bachchan and Mohanlal in characters that they can relive with perfection on screen like no one else. Now who else can be Bhisma Pitamah then Mr. Bachchan and can you imagine anyone as Bheema after hearing that the immensely talented Mohanlal is playing the role of the strong as innocent pandav - Bheema.
RANDAMOOZHAM will have music by A.R Rahman and Sabu Cyril will be the head of Art Direction while K U. Mohanan is roped in as the cinematographer.
RANDAMOOZHAM is likely to be in two parts and right now the pre-production work is in full swing.
