Ace choreographer and dance visionary Ashley Lobo's artistic contemporary dance company Navdhara India Dance Theatre (NIDT) has been invited by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), the cultural wing of the Government of India for a special dance performance in Israel.
Israel's Suzanne Dellal Center is known in art & cultural circles as the mecca of dance. Housing the world-renowned Batsheva Dance company, the Center is known to be very exclusive when it comes to choosing the artists who perform there. Acknowledging the rare honour, Ashley says, “It's an honour to be counted among the rare few who get to perform at the Suzanne Dellal Center. What makes it even more special is that this piece was originally commissioned by the Center's director Yair Vardi. So while it’s a performance to celebrate Indo-Israeli ties, it is also a special one for me.”
This would be Ashley's sixth and his dance company Navdhara’s fourth trip to Israel. They have performed thrice at the Suzanne Dellal Centre earlier, however this time around it is the international premiere of their new contemporary piece, AGNI at the Suzanne Dellal Center. AGNI is a powerful work that gives the audience an insight into the fiery passion of human emotion which can create and destroy all at once.
In Israel, Navdhara will also be seen performing at the renowned Karmiel Dance Festival 2018 followed by a special performance in Ramla city organized by the Indian Embassy.
