As was expected, Farhan Akhtar
's Shah Rukh Khan
starrer, DON 2
, has embarked on a bumper start at the multiplexes across the country. Be it Delhi-UP, Punjab, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Orissa or Mysore circuit, the multiplexes have recorded 80-90 percent and above attendance.
Though the Mumbai circuit was below the mark during the first show (more so at single screens), the film was running to packed houses at most screens by the evening shows. The only sub-circuit where the occupancies have been below the mark is Central India (CI), but the reason for that is the film which has released with a record number of prints ever (90-95) and so the tickets were readily available.
Coming to the single screens, the occupancies are lower (especially in Bihar and parts of CI) but at an all India level single screens too have notched up almost 60-70 percent collections. Given the outstanding first day and the advance booking trends, the film may well end up netting anything from 45-50 crore during the three day weekend.
Initial reports from the overseas circuit are also superb and DON 2 may surpass the final tally of year's best, RA.ONE
CHECK OUT: Shahrukh- Don ko pakadna mushkil hee nahi...
With a substantial portion of DON 2's investment having been recovered from the non-theatrical rights, the film is on course to be a clear hit, if not more.
Meanwhile both the releases of last week, JO HUM CHAHEIN
and PAPPU CAN'T DANCE SAALA
, have been rejected. The audience preferred the older releases, THE DIRTY PICTURE
and LADIES V/S RICKY BAHL
, with the former (TDP) pipping the latter (LVSRB) to the post at many places.
