|VINOD, ABHIJAT AND WAZIR|
As promised earlier, today we bring another striking revelation of WAZIR right from the horse’s mouth (read Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Abhijat Joshi). This time it’s about the 15 years association of the magnificent Mr. Bachchan with their 27-year old dream called WAZIR (yes you read it right) and lots more. Read on..
Big B, who plays a wheelchair-bound chess grandmaster -Pandit Omkarnath Dhar was in the original Hollywood script which he read 15 years back. Says Vidhu Vinod Chopra,“Mr. Bachchan read the script 15 years back when we were planning our Hollywood debut with this film. Sometimes we forget and now when we recollect it appears to be such an amazing journey”.
Adding further Vinod Chopra says, “Mr. Bachchan was supposed to play an immigrant in the original titled THE FIFTH MOVE”.
Abhijat Joshi elaborates, “Initially we had an immigrant from a place close to Russia for the role but later at one point we thought of having an Indian character to play the role of the immigrant and Mr. Bachchan was supposed to play the role in the original also”.
Vinod Chopra believes Big B’s role in WAZIR will be very unusual and unique. On asking whether it will be at par with PAA, BLACK. Vinod Chopra says, “For that you will have to see the film. But what we can say is, it’s a very unusual role. We have never seen Mr. Bachchan without legs on wheel chair and that in itself is quite unusual. He is such a tall man and to get a wheel chair for him we tried around 43 chairs. He was made to sit around folding his legs and Mr. Bachchan has been simply brilliant”.
Well, after the 27 year old seed, now we come across the iconic Mr. Bachchan’s very unusual characterization in WAZIR. Certainly, the pulse of the buzz regarding the film is increasing and the wait is becoming more eager and bigger. Stay tuned for more updates on WAZIR.. coming soon.
