Thanks to The Film Certification Appellate Tribunal (FCAT) now Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) will finally grant a certificate to Alankrita Srivastava’s LIPSTICK UNDER MY BURKHA.
The CBFC earlier had refused to grant a certificate to this film citing it as a ‘lady-oriented’ film and also for its sexual content and abusive words. This led to the makers of the film to make an appeal to FCAT and find a solution.
The FCAT however wants the makers of the film to tone down the duration of the sex scenes and few voluntary cuts.
FCAT in its report said that CBFC has, “Misdirected themselves in denying certification on the ground that the story of the film is women oriented. There cannot be any embargo on a film being women oriented or containing sexual fantasies and expression of the inner desires of women.”
FCAT’s order also stated, “There was no violation of guidelines as neither the visuals nor the dialogues in the film are contemptuous of racial, religious or other groups. There was no targeting of women of certain community or religion.”
CBFC will now have to grant an Adult (A) certificate to LIPSTICK UNDER MY BURKHA which stars Konkana Sen Sharma, Ratna Pathak, Aahana Kumra and Vikrant Massey among others.
